TheAge of Australia posted an interesting article describing the severity of counterfeiting in China. Frankly, I don't think there is any part in the article is exaggerating or faking. Even though up to now (thank God) I have not really been troubled with counterfeit in China yet, but according to my friends' experience, this is a huge problem in China. We Chinese like to copy DVDs, CDs, games, software, branded clothings etc., but who would know we also like to "copy" rice, eggs, cigarettes, medicines, money, even diplomas or educational certificates. When I think about it from another perspective, I really admire those counterfeiters' techniques in copying those stuff. But, sadly it is a crime that can really hurt the economy of the country, worse it can harm us the normal consumers.
Counterfeiting is not only China's problem. It also happens in United States. But, those counterfeiters they copy more "advanced" stuff, like our identities (passport, driving licenses, etc.), credit cards, etc. Anti-counterfeiting is a "new" (when I said new I don't mean it is really novel, just that it is still on-going and never-ending) subject.
