Shanghai Taxi

曾经说过，上海的德士是一个真得很不错的服务。是的，每一个司机都是马路上的“迈基舒迈基”，但是态度可说是非常令人满意的。你可能会觉得很奇怪为什么。原来，他们被管得非常的严厉。只要他们被投诉，轻则不能驾驶数天，重则会被炒鱿鱼。听过几个朋友给我举了几个例子。第一个，一个司机（这里叫做师傅）尝试骗了一个老外的几百块（大概那一个司机到处兜圈子吧）从机场到市中心的酒店（其实，也只需要大概100到200元）。结果，当那一个老外向他入住的酒店投诉时，酒店人员即刻用他得到的发票，打了一个电话到那德士公司理论。那一个司机结果不止失去了工作，还被告上法院！第二个例子，相同的事件，不同的是发生在我朋友身上，而骗的钱有大约几十元。结果，他的同事替他打电话去投诉。德士公司即刻把钱退回给我的朋友，而且还把那德士司机炒了。所以，有这样的管理，就会有这样不错的服务。我真的希望，这种管理会用在其他方面，譬如说租房子，路上交通等等。

I have mentioned once that the taxi service in Shanghai is not bad at all. Yes, every taxi drivers is like Michael Schumacher on the road, but they treat their customers normally are nice and friendly. Maybe you don't understand why. Actually, they are really been monitored with very strict rules. If they are complaint by one of their customers, they could be banned from driving for several days (which is a big lost for them) or worse they could be fired. My friends have told me several examples. There was a taxi driver charging a foreigner several hundred renminbi for driving him from the airport to a hotel in downtown. Actually, it only costs probably 100 to 200 renminbi. So, the hotel people called on behalf of the foreigner to the taxi company. The money was refund, the driver was fired and sued! Another example, which is similar but happened to my friend with less money. The taxi driver charged her more than 50 yuan, but actually maybe it only required 20-30 yuan. Her colleague made a call to the taxi company. The money was refund, and the taxi driver was fired. With this kind of management, therefore, we have a nice taxi service. I certainly hope this kind of management can be applied on other places, such as house renting, and traffic on the road...
