This employment notice has already been put up there beside the new restaurant, which is located just downstairs of my apartment. You could tell from this notice board, what kind of world it is here. Captain's monthly salary is merely about 2000 yuan, waiter/ess is only about 1000. Honestly, the gap between the poor and rich is just going to be further widen. When I thought of my own way of spending, I sometimes feel bad. My job is no more tougher than theirs, neither my job makes more contribution to the world or anything. They also need to face their boss' dissatisfactions, they also need to meet their customers' complaints. I went to a massage spa (also near my apartment). The masseur told us she doesn't have base salary. For every customer she serves, she could get 15 yuan from her company. However, if a customer complains about her, she is going to get fined with 100 yuan! They couldn't do anything to this unfair treatment because the competition is darn high here. Sometimes, when a customer complains about a waiter/ess, you could never tell who is 100% right or wrong. However, somehow, the waiter/ess is the one who is going to face the worst. We all have our different and precious experience in our life from our past. Noone can judge whose is more valuable than whose. So, we have to respect each other's experience no matter what, even though that person's experience might feel trivial to you.

Well, true... but when humans start to have more income and financial freedom, human tends to live a better live by improving ones consumption, in almost everything (Food, Transportation, Clothing, Entertainment, Lodging). Even we are at the comfortable living level, when we have extra $$, we might want to spend more to live luxuriously, instead of keeping the current lifestyle and giving away the extra to charity... Thats the human nature of Greed, in my opinion.

is that greed?? :) or just laziness??

it another way you can say lazy, $$ can buy almost everything, including precious time. by paying extra in our life for example: taking a cab instead of cycling home, employ housekeepers to do the job for us saving hours in house chores, pay premium when travelling(pay expensive toll to cut the travelling time), all the money spent can buy precious time for us to utilize. Thats the reason why so many people in developed country have time to spend on entertainment, computer games etc. while 3rd world country people work all day in sweatshops earning bare minimal wages. They use so much of their life earning money while we use more money than they earn to save time. everyone has the same amount of time, but different value.

totally agree with bryan.
money can buy everything but not health.
btw, JC, that's not laziness or even greediness, it's human nature. everyone is doing the same thing

Wasn't the point to consider other, less fortunate, people's feelings and be nice to them?
