You could play the good and evil god

Frankly, I haven't been playing any games lately, not even the NDSL. I guess after work I just don't have any mood to face another dead machine. Also because there are hardly any nice games to play with. Moreover, I am currently reading Peter's old book (which will be discussed in the near future). However, these two "new" games are released and somehow change the mood.

Patapon (啪嗒砰) is definitely a mind-throbbing game. Similar to Locoroco, its innovative, rhythmic and adorable design and game play just make you hard to let go. Basically, you play as a god for a clan of livings, the so-called "patapons". You have the power of "controlling" the patapons in fighting some monsters, some evil clans or hunting, etc. To control them, you have four drums, namely, "pata", "pon", "chaka", and "don", which correspond to the square, circle, triangle, and cross buttons. By following the rhythm, heating the drums in a correct sequence you are commanding the army (e.g. "pata, pata, pata, pon" is marching forward). So, all you have to do is hit the drum at the right moment, which sometimes can be quite frustrating. But, once you get your hand on it, you will feel the rhythm without any problem. Additionally, the game has some RPG features, which I always like. For example, you could create new army of patapon, customize the patapon, upgrade the weaponry, etc. I must say, this innovative game deserves all the attention. It is definitely one of those games that I want in my collection. See the trailer yourself.

Another strategic game with some RPG features in it is 勇者のくせになまいきだ (勇者别嚣张) Literally translated is "Hero Don't be Arrogant". In (most if not) all RPG games, the player always play the role of a hero who is going to fight some sort of evil master to save the day. This time, it certainly has turned the table around. You are going to play the evil god, commanding the evil master to fight the heroes. Firstly, the presentation of this game certainly bring back some memories to me of the 8-bit/16-bit games, where the characters are dotted. This not only brings in some fun memories, but also makes the game stand out of all those HD games. Secondly, the game play has so many depth of strategy. There is an underground world where you could dig the tunnel for the evil master and also those monsters. While digging, some primitive monsters are created. These primitive monsters are the lowest livings in a food pyramid/chain. Yes, you have to spend some time to plan how to create higher level of monsters by digging, which increase the chance of fighting the heroes. Basically, you need to fight off the heroes to keep them from capturing the evil master. Similarly, like Patapon, the innovative feature of the game with some fun presentation certainly has captured my attention. Unfortunately it is only now in Japanese, but I hope soon it will be released in English. See the trailer yourself.
