There is no secret I love books. Unfortunately, I love all sorts of books (perhaps except those boring university textbooks, which are expensive and frankly useless for me). Even more unfortunately is that I think I have spent too much on books - another good reason why I am so damn broke. And, from May to June, I actually have bought 4 books. I mean in one month! So, each per week! That's too much. I certainly need to stop myself from this crazy move!
Escape from Cubicle Nation is certainly a book that I desperately need in this desperate time. I am very stuck at my career, even though my job is still considered a "comfortable" job. However, I still can't see where I am heading to. So, perhaps it is good to see and learn what the practical entrepreneur move for future needs. I don't see myself as an employee for the rest of my live, at least not at this moment.
I love general science, or general history (something I have developed in me since couple years ago). I enjoy reading this kind of books, to learn new supposedly-boring subject in an interesting and engaging way. I found this What on Earth Happened... in Brief. I am fascinated on this book because I want to know how the author could describe (almost) the entire history of earth in one tiny book! So far, I am very enjoying reading it!
I am always bad at math (yet I used to be a computer scientist, what are the odds that I survived). And, this book is certainly the least I want to buy, yet I need to have. I want to grow in my career, and to grow is to gain experience and to gain knowledge. So, statistics is required for Six Sigma, and thus, I got this Statistics for Six Sigma Made Easy.
Last but not least, I got this Predictably Irrational. Two reasons, one I think it is useful for me for my job - to understand consumers. And, two I am very curious how our so-called rational decisions on something, most of the time are actually irrational. I am sold on the whole concept of the title. So far, I am thrilled on how our "subconscious" psychological power could be empowering us in our daily lives, even at the point when we need to make a critical decision.
Yes, I have started with all these books. My plan is (1) read "Predictable Irrational" before bed, (2) read "Escape from Cubicle Nation" on the way to and back from work, (3) read "What on Earth in Brief" during weekend when I am on the way to gym or some roaming around in the town, and (4) read "Statistics for Six Sigma Made Easy" when I need to study and work in the weekends. It is a slow, painfully slow progress, yet at least I am making progress!

Hey, I think it's certainly worth to invest in books. It's actually the knowledge you are investing in. I have weak spot for books too. I always have the urge to buy loads of books when I visit the book store. Anyhow, reading is a beautiful habit you should continue to take up.
ps: those books you are reading are quite "heavy". If I were you, I don't think I can absorb all of it ('~')
not heavy la... :) if you like this kind of reading, then it is not... just like love drama story books for me... are heavy because i dont like them :P
