What do Chinese like to talk about? I have stayed in Shanghai for more than 4 months now. Time indeed flies. Luckily, my colleagues are very friendly and helpful in a lot of ways. However, sometimes I feel like we do not share a common topic (daily life related). They like to talk about two subjects (every day): stock market and real estate. The questions they normally ask each other are, "how is your stock?", "have you bought that house?", or talk to each other, "man, the stock is falling...", "wow, that house is very expensive", "it is difficult to do investment with that house", etc. Even though I am Chinese, I am not really China Chinese. Therefore, you could understand I couldn't really talk about this with them. Actually, even some of them still think it is amazing or weird that I could speak Mandarin.

I would imagine working in China is less challenging than working in NL.
