My recommendations of TV shows for this summer

We have a bunch of detectives, five thieves, a pair of national security agents, and three spies. What else do we need then?

The Closer comes back in season 5 (time really does fly), and it doesn't really get even one bit of boredom. I enjoy the crime-solving bit of the show, of course, but I think nowadays I enjoy more the chemistry among the detectives and the one-and-only chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. In short, it is a combination of comedy, crime-solving, and sometimes even some touchy drama. So, whatever you want of this show, you get it. I just hope this show can go on until, well, I get bored with it (just like CSI).

Leverage could be seen as an opposite of The Closer. It is about a mastermind leading a hacker, a con-artist, an acrobat-thief, and a martial-artist to somehow destroying the rich, the powerful, and the wicked, at the same time, helping the poor, the helpless and the general public. It is like a robin hood in 21st century. What I like about this show is not only the storyline of each episode, but always a twist at the end. Not to mention also, the chemistry among the crew.

SyFy's new show for this season, Warehouse 13 is really what I enjoy a lot these days. It is a sci-fi show, no less. Normally I am not a big fan of sci-fi (like Star Trek-alike shows). This one somehow entertains me a lot. It is about two "national security" agents (just like the famous Agent Mulder and Agent Scully) trying to solve some mysteries caused by some questionable historical artifacts, and trying to retrieve them and store them away from the public secretly. Well, it is a combination of crime (another sort of crime) solving in combination with some mystery. In short, cool show.

Burn Notice comes back in season 3. This is another type of crime-solving show, in another sense -- not from the police's perspective, not from the thief's perspective, but from the spy's point of view. A spy somehow being burned (it means fired in the spy world), and he is trying to get back in the games, figuring out who burned him. Meanwhile, his on-and-off girl friend and a good friend helping him to help some people who needs help (just like those in Leverage). So, another type of James Bond but in a smaller screen, why not?
